Roof and Siding Transformation |  Project Spotlight - Cedar Rapids, IA

Another home got a major upgrade with a full roof and siding replacement in Cedar Rapids. This project combined Owens Corning TruDefinition Duration shingles and Gentek Sequoia Select vinyl siding — giving the home a brand-new look and long-lasting protection.

For this project, we installed 28 squares of Gentek Sequoia Select siding in Traditional Colors — one of the top vinyl siding products for Iowa homeowners. It offers exceptional durability, fade resistance, and timeless curb appeal.

To maximize energy efficiency and moisture protection, our team also installed REX Wrap Plus housewrap, Rex premium seam tape, foil-back fanfold insulation, and aluminum trim coil, along with custom corner posts and J-channels for a polished finish.

The roof received a complete overhaul with Class 3 impact-resistant Owens Corning TruDefinition Duration AR shingles, providing exceptional protection and style. The system includes SureNail Technology for secure fastening, ProEdge ridge caps, starter shingles, ice and water shield, Rhinoroof synthetic underlayment, and a ridge vent for ventilation. Custom chimney flashing and step flashing were installed to handle every detail.

The homeowners now have peace of mind with Owens Corning’s Preferred Protection Limited Lifetime Warranty, installed by an authorized Preferred Contractor.

From the first nail to final cleanup, every step of this project focused on quality and long-term value. The combination of Gentek siding and Owens Corning roofing not only refreshed the look of the home but also provided lasting protection against Iowa’s changing seasons.

Durango, Iowa is known for its rolling hills, beautiful views, and of course, Sundown Mountain Ski Resort. Perched high above Dubuque, homes in this area face some of the toughest weather conditions—strong winds, heavy snow, and summer storms. Recently, our team at Meeks Construction had the privilege of replacing the roof on a large home in this stunning location. Protecting a Home in a Challenging Environment While the views from this home are incredible, the elevated location means the roof takes the brunt of Iowa’s changing seasons. Over the years, the old roof had begun to wear down, leaving the home vulnerable to leaks and storm damage. Our team stepped in to provide a solution that would not only look great but also perform for decades to come. The Meeks Approach: For this project, we installed Owens Corning shingles—our trusted choice for strength, beauty, and long-term protection. Along with upgraded underlayment and flashing, the home’s new roofing system was designed to handle whatever Iowa weather can throw at it. We focus on more than just shingles. Every nail, every seam, and every flashing detail is critical when protecting a home in such a weather-exposed area. That’s why our crew took the time to ensure this Durango home’s roof wasn’t just replaced—it was upgraded. The Result: Lasting Protection with Lasting Beauty The new roof complements the home’s exterior and enhances its curb appeal while giving the homeowners peace of mind. With strong warranties and materials built to last, they can now enjoy their home’s breathtaking views without worrying about what’s happening overhead.

Sometimes, the most serious home issues are the ones you don’t notice right away. That was the case with a recent roofing project we completed in Dubuque. From the outside, the roof looked like it had simply reached the end of its lifespan. But once we began removing the old shingles, we uncovered a hidden leak that had been slowly causing damage beneath the surface. The Hidden Danger of Roof Leaks Roof leaks aren’t always obvious. Water can seep in around vents, flashing, or worn-out shingles, traveling through layers of roofing material before showing up inside. By the time a homeowner notices stains on ceilings or walls, the damage may already be widespread. On this project, the insulation underneath the old roof had gotten wet and discolored, a clear sign of water intrusion that had gone unnoticed for some time. If left untreated, issues like this can lead to mold, structural damage, and costly repairs. A Fresh Start With a New Roof The good news? A new roof doesn’t just fix the visible problem—it gives the entire home a fresh start. For this Dubuque home, we installed durable Owens Corning shingles designed to handle Iowa’s toughest storms, along with upgraded underlayment and flashing to prevent future leaks. The result: a clean, beautiful roof that not only boosts curb appeal but also ensures the home is watertight and protected for years to come.
